Carter's Birth Guesses

Hello Family!

It is getting close to Carter's arrival. Megan and I are very excited for his arrival. We had an ultra-sound the other day where we could see his face. This is what he looks like, according to the computer:

In the picture above, he is resting his face on his arm. Don't be freaked-out that he looks like a clamation character. The doctor said it was normal that all babies looked like aliens in these things. :) He definitely has that Bartley chin.

Over Thanksgiving, we all took guesses at Carter's birth time and birth weight. Here are the guesses, ordered soonest to latest:
NameDateWeight
Gar2/6/2010 7:30 AM6 lbs, 11 oz

Gar - Megan & I hope you are right for the date.

This is what Megan looked like 2 weeks ago:

This is me trying to imagine what Megan is going through. This is the closest I could get to it:

PugPuggy loved being my pregnant belly. She did not want to come outside of my shirt.

Love you all!

Polar Plunge

On January 1st 2010 Jodi and Zach took the plunge.

Temperature at time of plunge: 10 degrees

Wind-chill: 0 degrees

Lake temperature: Ice Water

But that didn't deter the two troopers and my friend Josh from jumping into Lake Michigan as part of the first annual WEathalon (Willenbrink-Eastberg Triathalon).

The first event was biking around the block:

Jodi gets ready by putting on helmet in professional manner.

Only two bikes available, so Jodi and Zach shared! John looks on nervously.

Photobucket
Good balancing maneuver by Zach; good bike control by Jodi.

The next event was running the approx .5 mile down the hill to the lake:

Josh on the left with white pants, Jodi on the right with the blue shirt (Didn't get a clear shot, the man under the blue blanket did not participate in the WEathalon)

And then, the plunge:

My friend Ryann (on left) and I were the support team. I am not being a good supporter at this moment as I am the one taking the photo instead of helping everyone get warm

They're done! And ready to take a hot shower!

In other news, Milwaukee got hit by another 10 inches of snow.

Hope everyone has a great New Year!

Baby Bartley's Blog

Hello Family!

Here are some pictures of Megan's belly. These are the first photos of Carter Bartley. We are 95% sure we are going to name him Carter.

Proof it is a boy:

A foot:

A fist and a head... I call this the "rocker" pose:

I have no idea:

I am stoked about becoming a dad. I look forward to seeing you at Christmas.

Love you all.

Congratulations to Jodi

Hello Family!

This blog entry is to celebrate the academic accomplishments of Dr. Jodi Eastberg.

Jodi - congratulations on your achievement. I am very proud of you. I wish I could be in Milwaukee for your graduation. It sounds like I missed a good party.

I have compiled a list of teachers that probably helped form you into the person you are today. Here goes:

1) mom & dad - listing the obvious ones first. Without them, you would not be here. Literally.
2) Ms. Updike - did you have her as a pre-school teacher in DeSoto? Did you run away from school? Who would have thought while fleeing pre-school, you would never want to leave. How old are you now? 32? So it took 26 years, but you are now ready to flee school again... at least the learning-part of school (not the teaching-part).
3) Ms. Flynn - did you have Ms. Flynn at St. Pat's?
4) Ms. Chauncey - again, a St. Pat's teacher I can not remember if you had her.
5) Sister Margarite - math. Say no more.
6) Miss Dowd - one of the most positive influences of your time at Bishop Ward
7) Miss Lane - see above
8) Insert Salpointe teacher here... sorry, I was not with you for those years
9) Insert Saint Louis University professor here... again, I completely missed these years of your life
10) Insert Marquette professor here... I now realize that you became much more studious when I did not live with you. Unrelated? I think not.

Congratulations. Quick, look studious for the family blog:

Megan & Mom's Birthday!

Hello family!

Long time, no blog. Everyone: get on it.

Megan celebrated her 32nd birthday last Friday. We went to a nice restaurant called Uchi in Austin. The food was amazing. We took this picture after dinner.

We had fun. The entire weekend was fun.

I hope Mom had a Happy Birthday, too!

I miss you all. Megan, PugPuggy and I are looking forward to seeing Jess & Zach in May!

I love you, my family. Keep this blog going.
