PugPuggy's New Best Friend Is...

... MOM!

Here is PugPuggy sitting on her best friend's lap:

PugPuggy follows mom around everywhere. Mom & PugPuggy spent some quality time in the backyard today. When mom sits down, PugPuggy wants to be on her lap. When mom goes in her room, PugPuggy wants to go, too. If we let her, I am sure PugPuggy would sleep in mom's room. But PugPuggy sleeps in her crate.

We are having a blast here in Austin and wish you were all here.

We will post again tomorrow.

Love you!

Dad in Austin!

Dad has arrived in Austin! Let the party begin!

I picked dad up at the airport. The flight was on time & there were no problems.

We stopped by the liquor store on the way back from the airport so we could pick up a couple of bottles of entertainment. We stocked-up and went home. PugPuggy immediately took to dad. His lap was her chair. They are now best friends.

Here is a picture from the first night:

There will be more updates & more fun.

Mom arrives tomorrow at 9:50 PM. Then the big parties begin.

I've been meaning to do this for some time...

Here are lots of fun snow pics for you!

Me in my rockin new snowshoes

Note how hight the snow is on the trees

Jodi's snowshoes in the park by our house overlooking the icey lake (good thing Zach's not doing Polar Plunge right now!)

Pretty Lighthouse on our street in the snow

Yep, snow to my hip. And we even got more after this photo was taken. I've gotten plenty of exercise shoveling.

Okay, I am ashamed that I haven't posted in so long. John and I clearly are having winter depression. My goals = to take my new snowshoes back outside. We have been having negative degree temps regularly. I knew I was a Wisconsinite today when I went to lunch with no coat -- and, I was perfectly comfortable. Silly.

Clean Garage

Megan and I have owned our house for about 1.5 years. Since we have moved-in, the garage has always been a place of storage, a place of preparation, a place of work. One thing it has never been: a place of cleanliness. Our garage was a mess.

The mess hit its low (or high) point during the 4 weeks I was preparing for 1) filming the Top Gun remake, 2) hosting the Ground Hog Day Benefeast, and 3) filming the March of the Penguins remake. The garage served as a staging area for all of these activities. I paper-mached an F-14 Tomcat. I paper-mached a 7-foot tall tree stump from which we pulled PugPuggy (she was the official Ground Hog of the Alamo Drafthouse). I painted helmets for Top Gun. I made penguin costumes for March of the Penguins.

But one thing I never did: clean. It was a mess. It was filthy. Here is proof:

Opposite angle:

Have you ever seen such a cluttered garage? Yuck.

All of that changed 2 weekends ago. Now that the films are done & shows are done, cleaning the garage became the priority. I am glad to tell you I have had some success. Check it out now:

... and ...

Wow. I feel so proud of my accomplishment. I put cleaning the garage on same plane as putting edging in the backyard. It was a chore, but I feel much better now that it is done.

Cleaning the garage is a 5 phase process:
  1. Make it so you could walk without stepping on something or turning an ankle
  2. Remove junk from the front half
  3. Remove junk from the back half
  4. Sweep & clean the floor (now that you can see it again)
  5. Get rid of stuff on Craigslist\E-Bay

I am proud to announce that we have successfully completed 4 of the 5 steps. The great Megan-Ben sell-off of junk on Craiglist will happen shortly.

Attention Fingerlover (aka John & Jodi)... prepare for some more pictures of my delicate hands.

Ben's Movies, Megan's License

First, great news: Megan got her Marriage and Family Therapy License from the state of Texas! Hooray, Megan! She has been working on it for 4 years. We are in celebration mode in the Ben & Megan house.

I am also in celebration mode because I finished my 2 entries for the Alamo Drafthouse Be Kind, Rewind film making competition.

I made Top Gun:

I also made March of the Penguins:

The awards ceremony is Thursday, February 21st. The first 2 places get a prize. I will keep you posted on the outcome.
